The new unit will standardize capabilities across the system and provide seamless transition treatment from one machine to another. Project will include construction of a new Linear Accelerator Vault and renovation of surrounding clinical areas that support it. A second Linear Accelerator Vault will provide redundancy and upgraded infrastructure, which will allow for new equipment installation to occur without taking down the only existing LINAC Room. This facility consists of classrooms, administrative spaces, and various labs, including a MakerSpace featuring a 3D printshop, metal shop, and wood shop to allow students to build their designs. The superstructure is primarily structural steel, but there are several architectural concrete columns that required formwork imported from Europe to cast. The skin is a combination of precast concrete, metal panels, and glass. The Engineering & Technology Center will increase the instructional capabilities of the South Campus to provide the community with opportunities to advance skills & high growth trades. Category: Healthcare (New | Major Addition) Memorial Hermann Healthcare Systems Memorial City Hospital is one of the fastest growing healthcare campuses in Houston. Memorial City Professional Office Building III added 226,000 square feet of multi-tenant medical office and clinical space to support the expansion of the hospital. The nine-story building is connected to a 387,000-square-foot, 1,125-space parking structure via a sky bridge. Memorial City POB III is vertically zoned to provide multiple tenancy options for a wide range of healthcare providers, ranging from primary and family care to higher profile specialty practices, such as cardiology, oncology, and orthopedics. Building systems were planned and constructed to allow optimum flexibility in leasing and configuration of clinical and medical office spaces to align with Memorial Hermanns physician recruitment and retention programs. Constructed on the densely populated and congested Memorial City campus, Memorial City POB III required meticulous attention to phasing, staging, and site logistics, in concert with the redevelopment and expansion of the adjoining hospital. The 350,000-square-foot, 14-story Class A office building was originally a speculative development. The project included an intricate 937 car addition to the existing parking structure that is immediately adjacent to the neighborhood residences. A stunning rose garden replete with a commissioned sculpture of Emily Morgan, the Yellow Rose of Texas, ties Three Memorial City Plaza to the adjoining properties at the ground level and an elevated crosswalk connects the properties for ease of traffic flow between the three buildings. Category: Education - K-12 - ISD Tellepsen partnered with Houston Independent School District to reconstruct the historical Milby High School. The project includes the demolition and reconstruction of the campus to accommodate 1,800 to 2,000 students. The school's new design is comprised of three stories and 280,000 square feet on a 19-acre site. The design preserves the architecturally significant building while providing a 21st-century learning environment. The schoolhouses 42 core learning centers and 14 science learning centers/wet labs. The historic core of the building is the center of the school life, housing both the learning and dining commons. The central courtyard features outdoor learning areas, eating areas, and performance spaces. The campus is organized into four distinct neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has community access points on the ground floor and includes extended learning areas for students to work and study independently or in groups. Category: Healthcare (interiors) The project included conversion of an existing L2 shell space into a 2,000 square foot Hybrid Operating Room. Due to the fact that this shell space is behind the hospitals red-line, all materials and equipment were brought in from a perimeter window removed for access in an effort to reduce infection control risk. All of the above work was coordinated and communicated between construction and key hospital staff daily with a considerable portion performed outside normal business hours during nights and weekends. In order to maintain constant hospital operations, temporary barriers, infectious prevention barriers, negative air machines and directional signage were utilized to isolate construction from clinic areas. Category: Education - Higher Ed The 167,000-square-foot, six-story research building provides critical laboratory space and animal facilities to boost the university's research capabilities. It includes innovative laboratories for patient-based research, and critical infrastructure for basic research as well as collaborative space for cross-disciplinary research. Researchers from optometry, psychology, neuroscience, natural sciences, mathematics, pharmacy, social sciences, and liberal arts will be able to collaborate more easily and readily on interdisciplinary projects that benefit the university as a whole. To support these facilities Tellepsen constructed the Biomedical District Utility Plant. The plant provides 4,500 tons of cooling capacity, 35,900 pounds per hour steam capacity, and 3,200 GPM of 140-degree heating water.
