Some renovations and expansion of warehouse to office space of the existing facility were made moving the emergency pantry to the new building, renovations for a new service, Teacher aid services, and renovations of the second-floor office space. Category: Community / Non-Profit The mission of The Children's Assessment Center is to provide a professional, compassionate, and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and their families and to serve as an advocate for all children in our community. The Center houses one of the largest advocacy programs in the nation and has provided services for more than 50,000 sexually abused children in our community since 2000, and averages approximately 5,000 clients annually. Constructed on a very dense urban site in Rice Village, the new Center was completed in three phases. < Back to Projects University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston Infrastructure-Ike Recovery Owner: University of Texas Architect: AEI Affiliated Engineers Size: 180 acres Category: Infrastructure The project encompassed a 180-acre, 114 building, campus-wide infrastructure repair of distribution systems including cathodic protection, potable water, fire alarm system communications, fire suppression, domestic water, storm sewer, diesel supply loop, underground fuel tanks, building card readers, security systems, above-ground propane tanks, electrical emergency power, steam transmission, condensate return system, chilled water systems, electrical power, telecommunication systems, underground telecommunication, and data cabling. The campus includes 17,400 linear feet of piping for both chilled water supply and return and heating hot water supply and return. The chilled water supply and return included piping ranging in size from 8" to 36" in diameter. The heating hot water supply and return included piping ranging in size from 3" to 16" in diameter. The project also included the construction of the new 65,000-square-foot East Plant. The plant provides redundant heating and hot water systems for the campus. Installation of a gas and steam turbine engine facilitates power to operate the facility and includes a heat recovery steam generator and a 1-megawatt BLACKSTART generator, which allows for the emergency start of every system in the building during a power outage. This ambitious endeavor involves complete renovation of a Granite Properties Building at 3 Eldridge Place. The building, which spans 311,000 square feet and consists of 13 levels, included a comprehensive 9-month demolition and buildback project. The high-end space includes start-of-the-art conferencing spaces, training rooms, offices, and flex spaces. The Branch Office was 53,000 square feet; the Warehouse was 475,000 square feet; the Truck Maintenance Garage was 40,000 square feet; the Guard House was 500 square feet, and the Pump House was 600 square feet for a total of 569,000 square feet. The new park transforms the campus's primary visitor corridor, and provides students, faculty, staff, a campus guests a central location to relax, socialize, recreate, educate, and study in a natural setting. Two event structures to support outdoor venues and a new public food and beverage pavilion were added. Grand Hall, a new multi-purpose building, integral with the park, that will be used as an expanded venue for Ring Day, and provide much-needed office and entertainment space for The Association of Former Students and The 12th Man Foundation.
