Category: Industrial (OTF Building) The Marathon Petroleum Facilities Program in Texas City consists of four buildings totaling 82,500 square feet. There is a 35,000-square-foot Administration Building and a 15,000-square-foot Facilities & Engineering Building that includes meeting rooms, laboratories, and locker rooms. Category: Healthcare (New | Major Addition) Nestled on a lushly wooded site in northwest Houston, St. Luke's Hospital at The Vintage offers a compassionate, healing environment while providing its unique brand of faithful, loving care. The 212,000 square-foot, four-story healthcare complex has 106 patient beds and 76 medical/surgical beds, 12 ICU beds, and 14 labor/delivery/postpartum units. The facility includes 6 operating rooms, 2 endoscopy rooms, 2 catheterization labs, and a cytology room. Category: Education - Higher Ed This project combined the existing Student Health & Counseling Centers into one new 31,500-square-foot facility at the old King Hall location. The Health Center includes a walk-up pharmacy, exam rooms, nursing stations, and offices for health providers; specialty areas for triage, procedures, and a future radiology room; and lab facilities and support spaces including an equipment/supplies area with autoclave and linen closets, etc. The Counseling Center includes private and specialized therapy rooms. Category: Liturgical / Faith Based The 40-acre Cypress campus features a 168,000 square-foot building that includes worship-in-the-round seating up to 4,500, a 25,000 square-foot nursery, GIGL Theater for prekindergarten children, Jump Theater for children from first through fifth grade, specialized space for junior high and high school students, a playground area, significant media space, and a cafe. < Back to Projects City of West University City Hall Additions & Renovations Owner: City of West University Place Architect: PGAL - Pierce Goodwin Alexander and Linville Size: 40,295 sq. ft. Category: Civic / Government Tellepsen was retained by the City of West University Place for the redevelopment and expansion of the city's municipal complex. The multi-building complex includes a two-story addition to the City Hall for a new Police Station, Emergency Operations Center, locker rooms, and new single occupancy sleeping quarters for the Fire Department. Parks & Recreational Facilities added a new 24,000-square-foot fitness center, an 11,000-square-foot indoor competition swimming pool, recreational play fields, parking, and a new 5,000-square-foot community center. A state-of-the-art leisure pool included water features, a climbing wall, a diving area, and a child water spray park. Category: Liturgical / Faith Based The former Compaq Center multi-purpose arena was repositioned and renovated to provide a 16,000-seat sanctuary and classrooms for this internationally prominent church. A 200,000-square-foot office building was constructed adjacent to the sanctuary to provide classrooms, assembly rooms, and office space. The sanctuary includes all of the technology for a functional broadcast facility with integrated audio/visual and production support systems. The project, completed in 16 months, was constructed on a highly congested urban site with the need for meticulous planning and coordination of all on-site activities. < Back to Projects Texas Children's Hospital Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute Owner: Texas Children's Hospital Architect: Perkins&Will Size: 408,600 sq. ft. Category: Healthcare (New | Major Addition) The 408,600-square-foot, 13-story building is home to nine floors of basic science research labs with lab support functions, one floor dedicated to a vivarium for small animals, a main level conference center, two floors for a mechanical/data center, and two floors of subgrade parking. The building physically interconnects with MD Anderson Basic Sciences Research Building at the 3rd floor through a horizontal walkway. The front of the building features a unique tower design that rotates four degrees each floor as it rises, mimicking a DNA strand. The design was constructed with twisting concrete double helix columns with slab edges strategically rotated on each ascending floor. The design is highly efficient, creating a daylight harvesting system that provides 98.5% daylight to all regularly occupied spaces. The LEED Gold certified structure uses an advanced environmental monitoring system to continually monitor contamination levels and automatically adjust air changes accordingly. This system is critical to the success of each research lab which requires varying air quality levels and reduces energy utilization by 35% compared to traditional lab buildings. Equipment corridors are at the center of each research floor, resulting in open lab spaces with lower noise levels. The labs were constructed with concrete moment frames that provided higher ceilings and plenum space that further enhanced the efficiency of the air quality system. < Back to Projects University of Houston Interim College of Medicine Owner: University of Houston Architect: Shepley Bulfinch Size: 25,500 sq. ft. Category: Education - Higher Ed The team built out approximately 25,500 square feet of shell space on the 8th and 9th floor of the Health 2 Building, which Tellepsen also completed. The space serves as an interim home for the newly chartered Medical School at the University of Houston until their new building is completed in several years. The two-phase project included classrooms, mock exam rooms and instruction laboratories, faculty offices, student lounge, study spaces, and a gross anatomy laboratory.
