Katy ISD encompasses 181 square miles in the suburban area to the west of Houston. The district serves over 62,000 students with 53 schools, including 6 four-year high schools. Its eastern boundaries stretch to Houston's energy corridor approximately 16 miles west of downtown Houston, and extends along Interstate 10 to a few miles west of the city of Katy. Tellepsen began working with the district in 2000 and has been the Construction Manager at Risk on over $72 million in construction. Projects range from the construction of new elementary and junior high schools to the renovation of existing schools under fast track summer programs. Notable projects include the Cinco Ranch Junior High School, Ninth Grade Center, Auditorium, Central Plan and Roadways, replacement of Wolfe Elementary School on a continuously occupied campus, and the $23.5 million Reconstruction Program on the Katy High School campus. Facilities range from classrooms and libraries to athletic facilities, auditoriums, laboratories, and campus infrastructure.
