The new facility houses key academic programs within the Clinical, Health, and Applied Sciences Department. The academic spaces include a motor control lab, exercise physiology lab, and a biomechanics lab. The facility also houses several student recreational amenities, including a fitness/exercise facility with an indoor track, multiple multi-use athletic sports courts for club sports, intramural, and personal training. Category: Education - Higher Ed The Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology is a 152,000-square-foot facility which includes process operations, instrumentation, electrical, nondestructive testing, and craft trades. It also includes an 8,000-square-foot glycol distillation unit to teach process operations and develop troubleshooting skills for students and incumbent workers. A state-of-the-art control room inside the building operates the glycol distillation unit with an emphasis on optimizing safety, efficiency, and ergonomic human factors. Category: Liturgical / Faith Based The Worship Center is a 55,000-square-foot facility including a pastors suite, a music ministry suite with a 7,000-square-foot choir rehearsal hall, and administrative space. The main auditorium seats 2,000 and includes complete audio/video capabilities with theatrical lighting. The choir area seats 178 choir members and includes an orchestra pit. The fan shaped sanctuary measures 90 feet in height from the base of the building to the top of the 21-foot high by 10 foot wide lighted cross. The present sanctuary was converted into a two-story education building to house classrooms, dining facilities and a recreation center. A new administration building was also constructed. Category: Healthcare (New | Major Addition) The new building for the Menninger Clinic advances Houston as a center of excellence in mental health treatment, education, and research, attracting leading mental health clinical specialists and researchers. Through collaboration with Texas Medical Center institutions, Menninger gives mental health patients access to the latest research, interventions, and medical specialty care. Treatment priorities for the 172,000-square-foot clinic include substance abuse and addictions, personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders, and trauma and neuropsychiatric disorders. The campus programs include adolescent treatment, Compass Program for young adults, comprehensive psychiatric assessment and stabilization, Hope Program for adults and Professionals in Crisis Program. Situated on a lush 50-acre campus, the clinic includes a 144-bed specialty psychiatric hospital, brain and behavior research center, administrative buildings, educational facilities, wellness center, and meditation area. Category: Office / Corporate (New | Major Addition) The MetaRock Laboratories project consisted of a 53,000 square foot building which serves as MetaRocks separate standalone facility for SEPCo (Shell Exploration & Production Company). The first floor of the building houses state-of-the-art petrophysical laboratories for the mining and offshore petroleum industry, including Petrology & Geology laboratories, EPSLOG-Core DNA laboratories, Geomechanics Log Analysis laboratories, and the Fluids & EOR laboratories. The facility also has 8,200 square feet of negative 20 degree freezers compartmentalized with N+2 redundancy along with another 2,000 square feet of 35 degree coolers. Additionally, the facility hosts a full-size, medical grade CT and micro CT suite, core storage, rock shop, and warehouse space. Because the project occurred in an occupied setting, the construction was phased to accommodate. Great attention was paid to scheduling and phasing during preconstruction.
