Category: Parks / Open Spaces Construction included new landscape and hardscape areas with decomposed granite trails, lawns, paver/stone plazas and terraces, planting zones, a 5.5 acre lake and native wetlands. We also constructed a boardwalk decking at the lake perimeter and throughout the woods, food truck area and chalk wall, three picnic pavilions and a new restroom building. Each building has a steel structure and wood tongue and groove deck with metal roofing. The picnic pavilions contain masonry fireplaces and tables. The new Vibrant location is part of Memorial Parks Running Complex, a major hub and access point on the south side of the park that opened in November. Located southwest of the Kinder Land Bridge and Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Prairie, the Running Complex was designed as a central gathering spot and serves as a new gateway to enjoy the Bayou Wilds trails of Memorial Park. The Running Complex also features the Roy H. Cullen Timing Track a 400-meter, five-lane track and an event plaza that will be available to rent for private events in the future. The running complex complements the adjacent Cullen Running Trails Center, which opened in 2014 and includes visitor services, restrooms and showers. Memorial Park's transformation The Running Complex is the latest project completed under the Memorial Park Master Plan and the associated Ten-Year Plan, which aim to enhance the park's green infrastructure and protect natural resources as well as improve recreational assets for the community. Category: Liturgical / Faith Based The project consists of site work, selective demolition of the existing church and construction of a new 24,000-square-foot, 1,400-seat worship center. The project also includes renovation of 14,000-square-foot and a 7,000-square-foot addition to the existing parish center. Before demolition of the existing sanctuary, Tellepsen helped the church turn the gym into a temporary worship center. Once the new sanctuary was complete, the gym was renovated. Other renovations were made to accommodate administrative offices and a reception area. Tellepsen was selected at the beginning of design to work with the design team providing scheduling, estimating, and value engineering services throughout the design phase. Category: Education - Higher Ed The San Jacinto College North Campus Edwin E. Lehr Library was originally constructed in 1993. The building required renovations to bring it up to current code and ADA standards, as well as incorporate a new Learning Commons model. The project included approximately 40,000 square feet of new construction and renovations to repair subsidence issues with the aging building. The result is a more open and functional design with enhanced quiet and collaborative areas for students to study and collaborate together in a comfortable environment with minimal distractions. The project seamlessly blends historic charm with modern sophistication, creating a vibrant urban oasis in the heart of the city. Category: District Energy / CUP Thermal Energy Cooperative (TECO) is owned by nine Texas Medical Center Institutions and operates two plants (Central Plant and South Main Plant) with a combined capacity of 80,000 tons of chilled water, 761,000 pounds-per-hour of steam, and 16,330 kW of emergency power generation. These plants supply service to 25 Texas Medical Center institutions in 42 buildings. They serve approximately 13 million square feet of space, and represent over 75 percent of the contiguous Texas Medical Center central campus building space. TECO is the only thermal system in the Texas Medical Center authorized to supply multi-institution services. Category: Civic / Government The Harris County Emergency Services Department #9 project consists of a renovation to an existing tilt-wall warehouse of 75,000 square feet, which includes office space and a fleet storage area. There are two additions to the facility; a 15,000 square-foot tilt-wall which will serve as fleet maintenance and a 7,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building that serves as fleet storage. Overall, the building houses administration office space, an emergency operations center, backup dispatch, fleet storage, and fleet maintenance. Site development consisted of grading, and installation of water systems, wastewater systems, and natural gas lines. The mechanical yard includes a 140-foot Motorola Tower with a foundation which allows for future extension to 280 feet.
