The renovations and new construction associated with the South Colleges Expansion accommodate growth, reconcile issues of building system obsolescence, allow increased accessibility, and enhance the existing amenities in each college. At Baker College the existing kitchen and servery were demolished and a new one-story kitchen and servery was constructed. A connecting four-story residential wing was constructed and houses 108 students. At the Will Rice College the existing 1955 residential wing was demolished to make way for a new four-story residential wing capable of housing 127 students. The first floor of this building includes laundry, a computer room, and a music room. The quadrangles adjacent to Baker, Lovett, and Will Rice Colleges were also improved to comply with the University's Master Plan.
