Katy Independent School District encompasses 181 square miles in the suburban area to the west of Houston. The District serves over 62,000 students with 53 schools, including six 4 year high schools. The schools reconstruction involved the replacement of the existing west campus and the renovation of the main entry security station. The kitchen and the natatorium were renovated. The redevelopment program included the replacement of the auditorium, gymnasium, and wrestling room. The entire school was redesigned to be more energy efficient, utilizing several large windows which enabled natural sunlight to enter the school. The schools cafeteria was improved to allow a more efficient flow in the serving lines, while also providing additional equipment space in the kitchen. The Black Box Theater was relocated on campus to a more efficient space to enhance the functionality of the schools traffic flow.
