The Flamingo Terrace was done as a change order to Houston Zoo Galapagos project. The flamingos' corner of Birds of the World, called the South American Wetlands habitat, includes netting to prevent their escape, a clay-based island surrounded by pool water. In total, the project spanning 1.3 acres as part of the park's Keeping Our World Wild Centennial Capital campaign in celebration of Houston Zoo's 100-year anniversary.
