Channelview High School |

Tellepsen constructed the new 274,000 SF, two-story, steel frame high school for the Channelview Independent School District. The facility, which follows a free-form footprint, includes classrooms, science labs, library, auditorium, gymnasiums, and athletic facilities with weight rooms, cafeteria/kitchen, shop, technology labs, and administrative offices. State-of-the-art sound systems, telephone, media and data retrieval systems were installed to maintain the school's progressive focus.
All of the school's internal elements are connected by a "Main Street" corridor spine consisting of colorful banners, flags and information graphics while the external elements are connected by a cantilevered "serpentine" pedestrian canopy. A common area, which also serves as a cafeteria, forms a striking rotunda which features bright neon lights above multi-level, multi-colored terrazzo flooring.
