Tellepsen Wins Methodist Hospital Contract

New central utility plant to upgrade hospital facilities

HOUSTON (April 3, 2009) - Fourth-generation Houston builder, Tellepsen, announced today that in conjunction with the company's industrial division, Tellepsen Industrial, a new central utility plant on the campus of The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center will be constructed.

"Tellepsen is always excited and honored to assist in expanding Houston's globally recognized healthcare facilities," said Steve Peterson, chief operating officer for Tellepsen. "Our Industrial group's long history in building for process industries, manufacturing and water districts allows us to bring unique expertise to The Methodist Hospital, a valued client of our commercial construction business."

The central utility plant project involves replacing a 2,000-ton chiller with a 2,800-ton steam turbine driven chiller, building a natural gas fueled co-generation system, heat recovery boiler, seven cooling towers and four new condenser and chilled water pumps.

Additional electric work consists of load balancing the new and existing equipment for the co-generation system, cooling towers, pumps and variable frequency drives.

As a Cornerstone of the Community, four generations of the Tellepsen family have made the Houston area their home, and four generations of Texans have relied on Tellepsen for the places they live, work, play, worship and learn. Tellepsen has been performing general contracting and construction management for both public and private sectors since 1909.
