Tellepsen Builders Wins National Safety Awards

Houston builder receives highest recognition for safety excellence from the National Safety Council and Associated General Contractors of America

HOUSTON (May 21, 2007) – Fourth-generation Houston builder, Tellepsen Builders recently received one of the highest honors in the construction industry by being named  a national winner of the 8th Annual AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) in the Building Division.  Tellepsen was also awarded the National Safety Council 2006 Industry Leader Award for the state of Texas.

“We are honored to be recognized in safety by our peers who know firsthand about the risks inherent in our line of work,” says Howard Tellepsen, CEO. “Safety is our number one priority at Tellepsen and for nearly a century of doing business in Houston, we have aligned ourselves with employees and subcontractors that share our safety perspective. The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity, and responsibility. The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, public service organization dedicated to protecting life and promoting health.

“Tellepsen’s successful safety culture starts with a strong management commitment to “zero” accidents along with employee training and involvement,” explains Susan Phillips, Tellepsen safety director. “If management can’t make time for safety, neither will employees.”
