Tellepsen Awarded West University Place
Expansion Contracts

New facilities to support need for additional recreation, community space

HOUSTON (April 27, 2009) - Fourth-generation Houston builder, Tellepsen announced today that the company has been awarded more than $12 million worth of contracts for three expansion projects in West University Place, an incorporated city located in central Houston. The three-phased project will consist of expanding and redesigning original recreation and community facilities to better serve the growing community.

"West University Place has developed a reputation as an ideal place to raise a family, thanks to neighboring schools and a growing parks system," said Howard Tellepsen, chairman and CEO of Tellepsen. "Tellepsen's experience in building community structures in neighborhood settings means these families will have ample space to play, work and host community organizations and activities."

A new 2-story, 24,000 sq. ft. West University Place Fitness Center, located at 4210 Bellaire, will feature a covered pool area, additional office space, cardio area, multi-purpose rooms, racquet ball courts and locker room facilities. Tellepsen will also construct new utilities, concrete paving and redesign existing baseball fields.

The West University Place Recreation Center, located at 4130 Byron, will be approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and include a new play pool area and tennis court. Nearby, the West University Place Community Center on 6104 Auden will undergo several interior upgrades and renovations.
The covered pool area is planned to open to the public by the end of 2009, with the remainder of facilities completed shortly thereafter.

Building on a Century of Trust, four generations of the Tellepsen family have made the Houston area their home, and four generations of Texans have relied on Tellepsen for the places they live, work, play, worship and learn. Tellepsen has been performing general contracting and construction management for both public and private sectors since 1909.

Tellepsen is turning dreams into reality in commercial, education, healthcare, liturgical, retail, residential and retirement communities, hotels and recreational facilities, as well as a host of other areas. The successful company is responsible for building some of Houston's most notable landmarks such as the Shamrock Hilton Hotel, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the original St. Luke's Episcopal hospital and Texas Children's Hospital.
