Tellepsen Awarded Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus
More than 50 years after building Texas Children’s Hospital’s first facility in Houston, Tellepsen to construct a new campus in West Houston
HOUSTON (July 2, 2007) – Fourth-generation Houston builder, Tellepsen announced today the company has been awarded construction for the new Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus, which upon scheduled completion in 2010, will be one of the largest suburban pediatric health care facilities in the nation.
“Tellepsen’s relationship with Texas Children’s Hospital began in 1951 when my father, Howard T. Tellepsen, then president and owner of Tellepsen Construction Company, signed the contract to build the city’s first Texas Children’s Hospital facility,” says Howard
Tellepsen, Jr. Chairman & CEO. “We are honored that the hospital has selected Tellepsen to again take part in their vision to bring state-of-the-art healthcare to children in our community.”
Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus will sit on a 55-acre tract at Interstate10 and Barker-Cypress and involve more than 500,000-square feet of ambulatory, diagnostic, office and inpatient/outpatient facility space, which will break ground within the year.
This project award comes on the heels of last year’s award to Tellepsen of the Texas Children’s Neurological Research Institute in the Texas Medical Center, which will consist of more than 425,000-square feet of research laboratory and vivarium space. The first of its kind in the United States, the facility is scheduled for completion in 2010.
